iber-Reinforced Plastic Products (FRP Products; also known as fiber-reinforced polymer) are composite materials made of a polymer matrix reinforced with fibers. The fibers are usually fiberglass, carbon, or aramid, while the polymer is usually an epoxy, vinylester or polyester thermosetting plastic. FRPs are commonly used in the aerospace, automotive, marine, and construction industries. Different types of FRPs have different properties. But, in general, all of them have excellent chemical and corrosion resistance, good impact resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio and slip resistance. Further, these materials are electrically and thermally non-conductive and electronically transparent. FRPs have long maintenance-free lives and are fire retardant. FRP products are easy to fabricate, and have replaced steel in several applications.
